Group Plans Exit Procession For Aregbesola


A socio-cultural group, the Oranmiyan Group, has unveiled exit procession for the outgoing Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who will be relinquishing power in the next 24 hours.

Aregbesola assumed office as Governor on November 27th 2010 and his tenure expires on Tuesday, November 27th 2018.

In the exit procession planned for him by the group, Ogbeni Aregbesola after handing over rein of power over the state to Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, the Governor-Elect, Aregbesola will move straight to his home town in Ilesa where he would be received by the Owe Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran.

According to the group, Aregbesola would be given heroic welcome by members of the Group at Osunjela before proceeding to Ilesa, where he would be received by Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Dr. Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, traditional rulers, chiefs, his kinsman and important dignitaries at Zenababab Hotel, Ilesa along Ijebu-Jesa Road.

Speaking with journalists on the reception, the group’s Spokesman, Mr Olajide Sadiq, said the group decided to give Aregbesola a warmth welcome in recognition of his laudable performance while in government, hence the need to appreciate him.

He noted that over 5,000 members of Oranmiyan Group across the 30 local government areas and 32 local council development have volunteered to make themselves available on Tuesday, November 27 to give Aregbesola civic reception.

He further explained that the joyous members of Oranmiyan would coverage at Osunjela town to receive the Governor immediately after the handing over at the Osogbo Township Stadium where they would lead the Governor to his home town.

He said: “Our members are very happy for the fruitful completion of Governor Rauf Aregbesola tenure.

“Our mentor, principal, grand patron and Oranmiyan symbol would receive a heroic welcome from thousands members of Oranmiyan group.

“We are happy because there are some people who died on the seat, they didn’t go back to their people alive. And we want to thank God again, because Aregbesola is somebody that is very passionate about the development of the state.

“We want to celebrate a nationalist, philanthropist, and the lover of development. He has done tremendously well in Osun in the last eight year and he has not disappointed us, we are proud of him.

“Aregbesola is an embodiment of ideas, his developmental projects cut across every nooks and crannies of the state, he did not centre his developmental projects to Ilesa, his own town alone.

“As matter of fact, the state has undergone positive changes under Aregbesola’s leadership.

“We want to use the occasion to showcase the affection of Oranmiyan people to Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and thank God for successfully completing his tenure in office,” Sadiq said.
