Emir of Ilorin tasks lNEC to be fair to all parties

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be fair to all political parties as part of efforts to achieve violence-free 2019 general elections.

The monarch gave the advice in his palace in llorin on Wednesday while receiving the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Abubakar and several PDP stalwarts, including the President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, were in llorin in continuation of the PDP Presidential campaign for the North-Central zone.

According to the monarch, violence-free elections can be attained when the lNEC maintains unbiase status to all contestants.

The traditional ruler also urged the judiciary to treat all parties equally while dealing with litigations on electoral matters before it.

The National Chairman of PDP, Mr Uche Secondus, who vouched for the integrity of Atiku, stressed the need for a competent and well experienced Nigerian to come on board to save the nation.
Earlier, Saraki, thanked the Emir for honouring the team and urged him to support the party in prayers at all times

Abubakar in his remarks promised to maintain his aged long closeness with the Ilorin emirate and further chart a way forward for the development of the state, if voted into office.
