The Managing director of Kogi state Agricultural Development Project (ADP) Mr. Oyisi Okatahi has disclosed that the Agency is set to inaugurate the Cassava Crop City Day aimed at making the product the mainstay of the state economy.
Mr Oyisi Okatahi, stated in a statement in Lokoja on Wednesday.
Okatahi stated that the cassava day with the theme: “Exploring The Treasures of Cassava Crop”, would be hosted in collaboration with the Kogi Ministry of Agriculture.
According to him, the programme would expose participants on how to explore opportunities and prospects in cassava farming, processing, storage and distribution.
He added that it would also teach participants on cassava financing, packaging, technology, sales, marketing and its entire value chain.
“The programme will hold on Thursday Nov. 15, 2018, at Indoor Sports Hall, Confluence Stadium, Zone 8, Lokoja, from 9am to 3pm.
“Side attraction includes: Cultural Music Competition of Igala, Ebira, Okun, Bassa, Nupe, Ogori-Magongo, Gwari, Kakanda, Oworo, Idoma and Eggan.
“The guest artist is Planet Shakers, Lokoja,” he said.
He, therefore, urged the prospective participants to visit Kogi ADP official website (kogiadp.com/cassava-city) or the head office or any of the zonal offices for further details about the programme.
The cassava city is located at Osara in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi, with a total land area of 12, 500 hectares.
It involves the entire value chain of cassava, including farmers, agro chemical & equipment dealers, extension agents, processors, among others.
