A businessman, Mohammed Hadeja and one Abbas Maigida were on Friday arraigned in an FCT High Court, Maitama for alleged breach of trust and cheating.
The defendants were dragged to court by the Police on a five-count charge, including criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The prosecuting counsel, Mr Francis Irabor told the Court that sometime in 2008, the defendants conspired to sell a plot of land belonging to one Ms Halima Njobdi, without her consent.
Irabor said that the land document was entrusted to the defendants, they allegedly disposed of land, located at Gidan – Mangoro, Abuja.
The prosecutor, alleged that the proceeds from the sale of the land was converted by the defendants to their personal use without the consent of the owner.
According to him, the offences contravened sections 97, 312, 322, 317 and 177 of the Penal Code.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the allegations against them.
The Judge, Justice Yusuf Halilu granted them bail, after application by their counsel, Mr Mustapha Gaji.
He admitted them to bail in the sum of N50 million, a surety each in the like sum. The surety must be a resident in the FCT.
Halilu then adjourned the case until Dec. 5, for commencement of trial.
